With our research in mind, we are keen to keep a strong element of Vanitas within our final image; this will be achieved by using symbolical props within our piece, each with their own hidden meaning. We have chosen to use jewelry to show wealth, a skull to represent death, fruits to symbolise life with it’s bitter sweet elements (this is shown in the lime, which is raised on top of poker chips to show life can sometimes be a bitter sweet gamble) this ties in with our message ‘Life is a game’. We have in our shot a gun which is aimed at the skull, to show that life can be taken in an instant. The red die positioned next to the poker chips are to represent the element of luck in life. The colouring we have chosen to use is to create a mood of uncertainty along with wealth, envy and royalty. We have chosen to use various vanitas/still lifer books to keep the style intact. The candle in the middle of the image is slow burnt and is representing a young life which is embroiled with life’s challenges.
